Fix update/upgrade probleemoplosser

Problemen met upgade naar een hogere versie met SSD schijf

Computer van de zaak wil niet upgraden naar een hogere versie.

Ontbrekende DLL files. (van videokaarten etc.)

Windows 10 upgraden naar hogere versie gaat soms mis met een SSD schijf

Het upgraden van Windows 10 naar een hogere versie wil bij een aantal SSD schijven niet lukken.
Dat komt voor bij pc's met een X299 chipset and NVMe SSD.

De SSD schijf wordt dan gezien als een USB flash drive

De melding wordt normaliter verholpen door de Windows partitie op actief te zetten.
Binnen Windows kan dat als volgt:
-    Open Computerbeheer door achtereenvolgens te klikken op de knop Start , Configuratiescherm, Systeem en beveiliging, Systeembeheer en vervolgens te dubbelklikken op Computerbeheer.  Als u om het beheerderswachtwoord of een bevestiging wordt gevraagd, typt u het wachtwoord of een bevestiging.
-    Klik links onder Opslag op Schijfbeheer.
-    Klik met de rechtermuisknop op de primaire partitie die u actief wilt maken, klik vervolgens op Partitie als actief markeren en tenslotte op Ja.

Een tweede mogelijke oplossing kan het veranderen van een register waarde zijn. 

LET OP, Het wijzigen van de verkeerde instellingen in het register kan tot gevolg hebben dat programma's niet meer goed werken of de computer niet meer kan opstarten. Microsoft ondersteunt deze wijzigingen niet en is niet verantwoordelijk voor eventuele geleden schade.)

-    Druk op Windows toets + r
-    Typ regedit
-    Ga naar: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
-    Verander de waarde van PortableOperatingSystem van 1 naar 0 (openen door te dubbel klikken)
Start het systeem na die handling opnieuw op en probeer de upgrade nogmaals.

Een derde situatie, is een te kleine gereserveerde systeem partitie en dan met name bij SSD schijven. Je kunt, met behulp van een partition manager, deze partitie vergroten boven de 500MB. De betreffende tools zijn vaak gratis en op internet te vinden. Doe dit enkel als je begrijpt waarmee je bezig bent.

Melding blijft en upgrade mislukt.

Blijf je die melding krijgen dan kan je gaan zoeken waar het fout zit.
Simpeler is de SSD schijf te klonen, of een image daarvan, naar een normale harddisk en die dan te upgraden.

Na het upgraden kan de toegepaste procedure dan weer omgekeerd plaatsvinden zodat die upgrade op de SSD schijf wordt geplaatst.

Bij een normale MBR harddisk zie je de C en dan het gedeelte van 450-500 mb* met de systeemfiles en dan eventueel een D partitie 
(*  Bij XP was het 7 mb,  102 mb voorWindows 7, 350 mb voor Vista/Win8.1 en 500 mb voor W10)

Van die C maak je een image

Je moet dan de SSD schjf met 1 partitie formatteren en dan die image er over heen gooien
Vervolgens maak je een partitie van 500 mb zonder driveletter.

 

  NVIDIA en AMD videokaarten zijn niet altijd compatible met een latere versie van Windows 10

Dan kan het voorkomen dat je bij het opstarten de melding krijgt dat je een paar DLL files mist.
Schrijf op wat je mist, bijv. NVMcTray en/of NVCPL.dll
Die kan je vanaf deze site downloaden

Zakelijke (dichtgetimmerde) PC of laptop.

Heb je een laptop of computer van de zaak, dan kan dat upgraden wel eens geblokkeerd zijn.
Hieronder de instellingen die je mogelijk eerst terug moet zetten.

Dat moet dan teruggezet worden.

How to defer Windows 10 Upgrade using Group Policy

If you´re looking to postpone the Windows 10 Ugrade for a longer period, it´s possible to delay updates for up to 180 days.

Microsoft provides two branch readiness level for receiving feature updates. The Current Branch gets updates when Microsoft considers that the features are ready. Then the Current Branch for Business gets feature updates when Microsoft confirms it´s ready for enterprise deployment. If you want to delay updates as long as possible, you should be selecting the Windows Update for Business (WUB) option, in addition to delaying updates for 180 days.

This option is also only available for Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education, and you can only configure it using the Local Group Policy editor.

To defer feature updates using the Local Group Policy editor, do the following:

Use the Windows Key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.

Type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Browse the following path:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Defer Windows Updates

Double-click the Select when Feature Updates are received policy.

Select the Enabled option.

Under Options, select the Current Branch for Business option from the drop-down menu.

Choose for how long you want to defer upgrades. You can defer receiving feature updates up to 180 days.

Check the Pause feature updates option to temporary pause major release from downloading and installing on your PC (this is the same as using the Defer feature updates option in Settings). The pause will remain in effect for 60 or until you clear the check box.

Select when Feature Updates are received policy

Click Apply.

Click OK to complete the task.

How to defer Creators Update on Windows 10 Home

If you´re running Windows 10 Home, as soon as the Creators Update, or another feature update, rolls out it´ll download and install automatically. However, you can set your Wi-Fi connection as metered, which limits how the OS access uses an internet connection, and when enabled, updates won´t download automatically to your PC.

To defer feature updates on Windows 10 Home, do the following:

Open Settings.

Click Wi-Fi.

Click the Wi-Fi network you´re connected link.

Under Metered connection, make sure to turn on the Set as metered connection toggle switch.

The caveat with this feature is that it only works with when connected using a Wi-Fi network. However, metered connection for Ethernet adapters is available starting with the Windows 10 Creators Update.

This method will block all kinds of updates, meaning that your computer will be unprotected until you disable the metered connection.

Wrapping things up

While this guide goes through the steps to prevent installing the Windows 10 Creators Update from installing automatically, it´s not meant to discourage your installing updates. On Windows 10, and on any operating system, updates are important to keep your device up to date and secure.

The Creators Update not only improves the OS, but it brings a slew of new features, such as Cortana on full-screen, Night Light to adjust the blue light that the screen emits at night, 3D and mixed reality capability, themes, improvements on the Start menu and much more.

This guide is only meant to postpone the update to a later date, until you know for sure that bugs and issues that may appear during the early days have been fixed to reduce issues on your PC, laptop, or tablet.

Die moet weer geactiveerd worden.
Hieronder de werkwijze om die te blokkeren.

Dat moet dan weer ongedaan gemaakt worden.

Type linksonder taakplanner en klik dan daarop bovenin.

Klik dan links in het scherm.

Ga dan naar update orchestrator

 

 

Klik rechts op elke update assistent en schakel uit.
Voor herstel van die assistent schakel die weer in.

Blocking updates & upgrades windows 10

Press the Start button, type groepsbeleid , and open the respective result. Now head to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update and open Configure Automatic Updates. Enable the setting and under Configure automatic updating, choose 2 -Notify for download and notify for install.
